rom Oscar- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick comes this groundbreaking investigative documentary about one of America's most shameful and best-kept secrets - the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military.

"The Invisible War" is a must see, not only because it is very well made, but because everyone should be aware of this issue that plagues the American military. The Invisible War does a beautiful job of simply letting the victims tell their stories. The result is both heartbreaking and eye opening. The fact that the Department of Defense estimates that 20% of all females in the Armed Services have been raped will probably astound the average American. But Dick has the proof.

"The Invisible War" not only exposes the serious problem of rape for both men and women in our armed services, but it offers some sense of why this occurs so frequently and -- most importantly -- how it destroyed their ability to continue to serve and the dedication of many of their family members, serve and then are lost. It also presents possible solutions.

The Monument to Women Veterans, Inc. purchased the screening rights for this award-winning film shortly after its release and offers this film as part of our on-going community education and advocacy for all women who serve in the US military, past, present and future.

Following the very first showing of The Invisible War in 2012, it was evident that there existed a definite need for PTSD support groups for women in the local community who have experienced military sexual trauma. Therefore, the Monument to Women Veterans, Inc. immediately sought out a local organization to facilitate PTSD support groups for women to meet this need.

In 2013 this program was approved for CEU credits for nurses and following a showing to a national nurse’s organization in St. Louis, MO we successfully facilitated the beginning of two new PTSD support groups for women in the St. Louis area.

Plans are currently underway for approval for CEU credit for social workers and mental health counselors.
